The Brown Oak that we reclaimed from the great brewing vats of the original Guinness Breweries in Dublin, Ireland is rich with color, history, character, and even a few original artifacts. Brown Oak was used because it had the strength and durability to handle the intense brewing process, and those traits are translated into your floor. Steel bands that held the casks together left their mark as dark accents to the rich blend of caramel and cocoa colors. Knots that gave way were filled with tiny hand carved wedges tapped in for extra strength, many of which can still be found in the wood.
There were only a certain number of salvaged vats, so our quantities are very limited. This fascinating wood will never again be available, and we are proud to extend the life of these stunning boards into a floor that tells the story of a lifetime.
