King Family Vineyards, located in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Charlottesville, Virginia is known for its award-winning chardonnay, meritage, merlot and cabernet franc wines.
When vineyard owners David and Ellen King designed their tasting room, they came to Mountain Lumber to select reclaimed woods that emulated the character of the Crozet, Virginia farmscape.
Granary Oak® was selected not only for its strength and durability, which was important in increasing tasting room traffic but also for its warmth and rustic appeal. The beautiful mix of distressed red and white oak used in the flooring, bar and areas to display the King's award-winning vintages has as much character as the wines themselves.
According to David King, "We chose a Mountain Lumber Granary Oak floor because of its inherent beauty and durability and its ability to withstand commercial traffic. We also wanted to achieve an instantly 'antique' look to our winery tasting room. Almost every customer comments on the beauty of the flooring."
