Mountain Lumber flooring was featured in a renovation by Charles Moore Architects that was selected as one of the Best of Kitchen Spaces 2008 by Washington Spaces Magazine.
“This elegantly rustic kitchen was part of a whole-house renovation in which an older home was stripped of several poorly constructed additions, taking it back to its original saltbox shape. Architect Charles Moore rebuilt from there, placing the new kitchen at the center of the house to emphasize the importance as a vital gathering space for the family. In the process, Moore used locally source materials where possible, such as Virginia soapstone counters. Beyond the kitchen’s slate floors, the hardwood was sourced from reclaimed oak cider vats.”
